Nov 10, 2023

We are excited to announce a new wave of grants to fund formal research that aims to create more knowledge about Ethereum, blockchain technology, and related domains. We encourage academics, research centers, PhD Students and all those interested in researching Ethereum to submit their project proposals. This grants round has up to $750,000 in total available funding.

Knowledge as a flywheel for Ethereum

Ethereum continuously evolves at tremendous speed, transforming the way people see Economics and Finance, challenging cybersecurity in new contexts, impacting arts and culture, altering identities and ultimately rearchitecting the status quo in various areas of society.

The academic community can and should have an increased role in this process to help solve major problems and advance the Ethereum ecosystem.

There is a growing number of outstanding researchers who explore various domain areas related to Ethereum and positively impact our shared knowledge on privacy, mechanism design, economics, transparency, financial inclusion, and more. But, we’d like to foster more!

Decentralized knowledge and a truly global community

This grants round aims to support formal research on Ethereum and related domains while bringing more actors into the ecosystem. The more knowledge and research is shared among the global community, the more Ethereum can evolve to make a greater and positive impact.

So what are we looking for?

We are looking to fund formal, scientific and systematic research and sponsor freely available and open-source content targeted at Ethereum and related domains. To help get you started, please check our wishlist. This list of project ideas and domains is not meant to be exhaustive so do not restrict your creativity. We will accept applications for any research topics that can make an impact on the Ethereum ecosystem.

The deadline for this grants round is April 22, 2022. Check all the information on our website and if you have any questions, you can contact us at academic-grants@ethereum.org.

We’re looking forward to working with academics around the globe. If you know someone who might be interested, please spread the word!

We believe that working to increase knowledge in our community is an investment in the future of Ethereum.
